Pasi Sahlberg教授到访香港教育大学赛马会小学,深化教育创新交流

Professor Pasi Sahlberg, an internationally renowned Finnish educator and Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Melbourne, visited the EdUHK Jockey Club Primary School on 12 June 2025, as part of his academic visiting activities invited by the Global Research Institute for Finnish Education (GRIFE) at the Education University of Hong Kong. 

 

Professor Sahlberg is widely known for his influential work on educational equity, play-based learning, and the Global Educational Reform Movement (GERM). With a career spanning roles at the World Bank, Finland’s Ministry of Education and Culture, the European Training Foundation, and Harvard University, he is also the author of several globally acclaimed books including Finnish Lessons and Let the Children Play. His research emphasizes child-centered learning, teacher professionalism, and education systems built on trust and inclusion. 

 

Accompanied by Mr. HO Chun Sing, Maxwell, Associate Co-Director of the Academy for Educational Development and Innovation (AEDI), and Dr. QIU Ruoyi Serena from GRIFE, Professor Sahlberg was warmly received by the school’s leadership team. The visit highlighted EdUHK Jockey Club Primary School’s innovative, student-focused approach—mirroring Finnish principles such as holistic development, play-based learning, and teacher empowerment. 

 

During the tour, Professor Sahlberg: 

  • Observed classroom practices in curriculum design and digital integration, 

  • Engaged in educator discussions on inclusive pedagogy, 

  • Explored synergies between Finnish and Hong Kong educational models. 

 

The visit underscored the importance of cross-cultural collaboration in building resilient, equitable, and forward-looking education systems.
