The 3rd Annual Conference of The Chinese Society for Education (CSE 2026)– Aug 2026

The 3rd Annual Conference of The Chinese Society for Education (CSE 2026)

The 3rd Annual Conference of The Chinese Society for Education (CSE) is hosted by the University of Windsor (Canada), and co-organized by Teachers College Columbia University, Education Research Institute Nanjing University, School of Education Tsinghua University, The Education University of Hong Kong, Faculty of Education Western University, and Future Education Institute Yunnan Normal University. The theme of the conference is “Reciprocal Learning between East and West, Co-constructing a More Inclusive World: Global Perspectives and Local Practices.” The Chinese Society for Education is committed to serving and connecting the global Chinese education community, and to promoting international exchange and collaboration in education and culture. We warmly invite scholars and practitioners to submit their abstracts via the conference website at: https://chinesesocietyforeducation.space/ue.htm. Participants who require a Canadian visa are strongly encouraged to submit their abstracts as early as possible so that a pre-issued invitation letter can be arranged.

In an era of interconnected challenges and shared aspirations – from climate crises to technological disruption (GenAI) – education serves as a powerful nexus for global dialogue and local transformation. Amidst rising geopolitical tensions and divides, the imperative for West-East reciprocal learning in Education between the West and East has reached unprecedented urgency. This conference invites educators, researchers, and practitioners in the field of Chinese education and/or international education to explore how interdisciplinary and cross-border collaboration can foster mutual understanding, inclusion, and sustainable development and thus to redefine the future of more inclusive education—both in China and worldwide. By fostering reciprocal learning between the West and East, as well as across diverse cultures and educational systems, especially in teacher education and school education, we aim to cultivate innovative solutions grounded in global perspectives and actionable at local levels, creating a dynamic platform for dialogue, reflection, and transformation. The Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor has introduced a new course in its latest teacher education curriculum reform: Interdisciplinary Education for Sustainability. This course engages teacher candidates in school-based and community-oriented activities in promoting ecological civilization. It integrates diverse ways of knowing and being in addressing UNESCO’s calls for the integration of Sustainability Education in initial teacher education.

Rooted in the dynamic interplay of scholarship, practice, and partnership for West-East reciprocal learning in education, this conference theme underscores the imperative of integrating diverse perspectives to tackle complex educational issues. We seek to advance cutting-edge research, culturally responsive learning and teaching, and equitable collaborations that transcend geographical, disciplinary, and institutional divides. By uniting diverse voices—from policymakers to classroom teachers—we aim to turn dialogue into action, ensuring education remains a cornerstone of peace, inclusion, and human flourishing in an uncertain world.
